2007-2009 Contract Ratified at February 7th Board Meeting
Great News ! We have an new three-year contract achieved through a collaborative effort on the part of both negotiating teams. Together we have taken another step towards making Novato teacher compensation more competitive relative to comparative districts.
Highlights of the new contract:
1-All certificated staff members will receive a 1.92% raise on the 2006-2007 Certificated Salary Schedule, effective July 1, 2006. The retro check will be in the mail as soon as MCOE approves budget. The total percentage raise for 2006-2007 is 6.42%
2-Hourly rate will be increased to $34.12 effective prospectively.
3-If an employee is required to work over and beyond professional responsibilities outlined in Article 8, the employee shall be paid at the new hourly rate on District designated committees.
4-Extra pay for summer curriculum work will be increased: in 2006-07 compensation for a full day will be $130.00. In 2007-08 compensation for a full day will be $160.00.
5-Tuition reimbursement wil be raised to $125 in designated areas of need.
6-School psychologists and Program Managers will be placed on a separate salary schedule, effective July 2007.
7-Department heads will receive $40 per section.
8-Elementary Combination class teachers will receive a stipend for eight days at their per diem rate, effective prospectively. 2006-07 teachers will receive a 4 day stipend. No new teacher shall be assigned a combo.
9-Certificated coaches salary will be based on Step 1, Class 1 of the salary schedule retro to July 1, 2007. Certificated coaches will also receive a $200 per year coaching stipend for longevity for up to a maximum of 5 years.
10-High School athletic directors shall receive 2 periods of prep time and will receive a stipend that is 26% of step1, column 1 of Certificated Salary Schedule retro to 7-1-06.
11-Teachers who supervise at athletic events will receive stipends as follows : Saturday football games: $75.00; Tuesday-Friday Basketball Games: $60.00; weekly events $45.00.
12-Secondary teachers shall not be assigned classes in more than 2 departments or more than 3 preps per semester, unless the teacher has the opportunity to consult with his/her NFT rep and agrees in writing on waiver form. Student load should not exceed 155 for teachers in specified academic departments.
13-There shall be no more than 230 students daily per high school PE teacher. A waiver form shall be used when load exceeds 230 students daily per teacher.
14-An 18 year salary schedule will be effective July 1, 2007. Step 20 will become Step 18.
15-All elementary teachers asked to substitute will be paid at the hourly rate.
16-The District will confer with NFT when making decisions associated with curriculum and/or instruction.
